Refit of the existing refrigeration plant and cabinets within the M&S Argyle Street store in Glasgow

Background

Value: £490,000

Programme: 10 weeks

In 2012 Technical Retail Services Limited (TRS) were successful in the tender process and were awarded the Refrigeration contract for the refit of the existing M&S store in Argyle Street, Glasgow.

Project Overview

The project entailed the removal of all existing Refrigeration plant and cabinets operating on R22 and the installation of a brand new Food Hall with all equipment operating on a pumped CO2 system, achieving the key environmental footprint required by the client.

The challenge within this project was to ensure that throughout the renovations the existing store was able to continue to trade as normal as preparations were made for the new installation. This was achieved by carrying out a programme of works out-of-hours, installing all of the associated services for the new Refrigeration plant and cabinets.

The project management and programme management were critical to ensure that all of the key milestones were achieved within the short 10 week programme.

TRS successfully managed the Food Hall Refrigeration works completing the programme ahead of the programme and working within the budget restrictions.

Outcome

M&S re-launched the store in early December 2012 in readiness for the peak trading Christmas period.
